The Fish John West Rejected
The Fish John West Rejected: a collection of both 2D and 3D artworks from artists across Australia.

Paradise Gloss - Next Edition
The annual Side Gallery end-of-year show is titled ‘Paradise Gloss — Next Edition'.
The theme Paradise Gloss is the exhibition title that curator Laura Brinin has explored this year with a project for the Outdoor Gallery, presented by Brisbane City Council. In this theme extension, Laura invites artists in the broader community to consider how they will respond to the concept.

Paradise Gloss
From 14 June to 3 November 2024, we invite you to explore Council’s latest Outdoor Gallery exhibition, Paradise Gloss. Curated by Laura Brinin, Paradise Gloss provides the community with opportunities to engage in creative exploration and encourages play to improve mental wellbeing.

Pattern/Spell
Pattern/Spell ... Pattern is part of an ongoing love letter to the synesthetic connections found in the patterns and colours of the clothes we wear. Drawing from a life-long obsession with vintage dresses and the wardrobes of loved ones, Mel paints cross-sections and up-close examinations of patterns and fabrics using acrylics and inks. Spell is a call to the little witch in all of us. From her earliest memory, Mel has made connections between vessels, nature and the power of focused intention. Take a peek into a collection of mystical objects, bottles and potions - a potent and hopeful invocation of love, joy and female power.

The pattern is the pattern
Vibrant colour, bold forms and clashing patterns embody the latest series of works by Melanie Brady. True to the artist’s oeuvre, the pieces depict the vintage fashion-inspired subject matter. We glimpse the connection when a garment is precious to its owner in a playful, nostalgic, vibrant style.
